Dry Clean Only

Woo finally I have photos! Completely made out of computer paper except for the few thousand pins on the bodice and hot glue here and there which I had to use for the flowers and skirt. I worked on it from a few months on and off and here it finally is!

Well I think it's about time I explain how I made this! The bodice/top consists of 5000+ individual 3D origami pieces. I'll admit it; I completely winged it. I basically started the top from the bottom and just went for it. I followed the curves of the form when it came to my increasing and decreasing and I actually didn't do too much of that. The pins helped quite a bit when it came to keeping the form and yes, each and every piece has a pin in it. I don't know what I was thinking when I committed to pushing all of those in. Jeez.

The flowers are all paper and handmade. The dress only consists of roses and various sized lilies. Thank god I had a leaf punch too or else cutting out all those leaves would've been as crazy as the pins. 

Ah the bottom. Let me just say how much of a pain this was. What you see here is attempt number two. The first try left me with this weird skirt that curved under. It was just awful. I ended up ripping it off three days before I needed it for a show and did it all over again. The second time I used pool noodles as my armature of sorts. I cut them up and duct taped them to the very bottom of the form so the skirt would flare out. I also spaced out the tubes a little bit more and I was much happier with the result after. It could end up getting redone once again in the future but I refuse to think about that right now.

Now the key is finding a place to put this monster. Anyone wanting to buy a paper dress or know of a bridal shop that would love to buy it and display it? ...Anyone? ...no? okay. xD
